If you want to buy a Dodge Durango, then it's important to understand how the engine choice affects its fuel efficiency. The engine selection is one of the most fun parts of buying a Durango. Here is how that choice will determine the miles per gallon.

If you stick with the base engine, you'll get an EPA-estimated 19 MPG for city-like conditions and 26 for highways. Upgrading the engine once will leave you with 14 MPG for cities and 22 for highways. Move up to the Hemi engine, and you will net 19 MPG for highways and 13 for cities.

Lastly, the Hellcat super engine manages an EPA-estimated 17 MPG for highway driving and 12 MPG on city roads. If you add on all-wheel drive, the estimates are a point or two lower than their base number.
