Performance and Towing
Dodge
Durango
The 2018 Durango has three engine options: a 3.6-liter V6
that makes 293 horsepower (or 295 with dual exhaust) and 260 lb-ft of torque, a
5.7-liter V8 that makes 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, and a 6.4-liter
V8 that produces 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. All engines have an
8-speed automatic transmission, and all trims have the option for all-wheel
drive.
The 2018 Durango has a best-in-class towing capacity, at
8,700 pounds. All models are available with the Trailer Tow Group, which
includes a 220-amp alternator oil cooler (V8 only), class IV hitch receiver,
4/7-pin wiring harness, rear load-leveling shocks, and a full-size spare tire.
Chevrolet
Traverse
The 2018 Traverse has two engine options: a 2.0-liter
turbocharged inline-4 that makes 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, and a
3.6-liter V6 that makes 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Both engines
have a 9-speed automatic transmission, but only the V6 is available with
all-wheel drive.
The Traverse has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, and the
only available towing equipment is a heavy-duty cooling system and a trailer
hitch. This wipes Chevy off the list for any driver with a boat, trailer, or
substantial professional equipment to haul.
