After 10 years on the road, Jeep has redesigned its popular compact SUV, the Compass, for the modern driver. With fully updated styling, more space than before, and the latest in safety and entertainment technology, what more could a Newton driver want?

Impressive off-road ability is a good start, and there’s so much more to anticipate. With four trim levels – including the Limited, Trailhawk, Latitude, and Sport – there’s a model to suit your needs. For those who can’t wait, here’s our in-depth look at the all-new 2017Jeep Compass:

Styling

If you’re a fan of classic Jeep styling, you’re going to like the all-new Compass. Based on its high, athletic stance, seven-slot grille, and narrow rectangular headlights reviewers are calling it a smaller version of the wildly popular Grand Cherokee. From the side, the Compass looks ready to head off road with extra tire clearance in the black-accented wheel wells and black chrome molding around the entire length. The roof is also gloss black (available option) to match and slopes down in the rear, while wide fenders give it a surefooted appearance. LED headlights and available 19-inch polished aluminum alloy wheels in gloss black round out the Compass’s contemporary styling.

The Trailhawk model is perhaps the most assertive when it comes to styling, with Jeep badges throughout and a matte black stripe down the front fascia. Additionally, upper trim levels come available with CommandView Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof.

Interior

Inside, the cabin has been given an ultra-modern look and feel, with high-quality materials, a cleanly designed center stack, and available premium accents. It comes with standard, 6-way adjustable cloth bucket seats in the front, and the option for heated, leather trim bucket seats with 8-way power adjustment. The Trailhawk features red interior stitching accents and upper trim levels feature interior ambient lighting and illuminated entry.

Features

The Compass has been fully redesigned for a tech junkie’s dream come true. You’ll have the option between four Uconnect infotainment systems, depending on which model you choose, and all offer an intuitive interface to access your favorite music, apps, or even navigation. It also features available Sirius XM radio, a standard 5-inch touchscreen display, six-speaker audio system, Bluetooth Streaming Audio, voice command, and smartphone connectivity. Drivers who choose the Uconnect 8.4 with navigation can also enjoy Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Available options include Beats Premium Audio and HD radio.

The all-new 2017 Compass also has standard 12-volt power outlet, four passenger assist handles, air conditioning, push button start, day/night rearview mirror, remote keyless entry, and steering wheel mounted controls.

Engine

The base powertrain on the all-new Compass is a 2.4-liter inline-4 MultiAir Engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or an AutoStick automatic transmission. Upper trim levels feature a 2.4-liter inline-4 MultiAir Engine with Stop Start, mated to either a 9-speed automatic transmission or an AutoStick Automatic Transmission. All models come with the option for a 4X4 Terrain System that makes your Compass ready to take anywhere.
