Review: 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Performance

The base powertrain employs a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel-drive to create 295-hp and achieve an estimated 26 mpg of highway driving and 19 mpg in the city. Available are three V8’s; a 360-hp 5.7-liter, a 475-hp 6.4-liter, and a 6.2-liter supercharged diesel with an upgraded eight-speed auto that generates 707-hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. The optional SelecTerrain® Traction Management system incorporates Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock driving modes to enhance handling and traction. Additionally, the Grand Cherokee has 4X4 systems built to tackle challenging surroundings, as well as a towing capacity of 7,200 pounds.

Features

Standard features consist of Keyless Enter ‘n Go, dual-zone automatic temperature control, two USB ports, a Uconnect® 4 infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen display, integrated voice command with Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, SiriusXM® satellite radio, and a six-speaker audio system. Available are heated front and rear seats, remote start, a power liftgate, and a panoramic sunroof. Also, two additional USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect up to eight devices, an 8.4-inch display, navigation, a nineteen-speaker Harman Kardon® premium sound system, and Jeep Skill® for Amazon Alexa are optional.

Safety

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4WD earned a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration*. The ProTech I safety package comes standard and includes blind spot monitoring with rear cross path detection, ParkSense® rear park assist, and a ParkView® rear backup camera. Also standard are hill start assist, traction control, trailer-sway damping, and an advanced seven-airbag system. The ProTech II and Advanced ProTech II packages are available and utilize forward collision warning with active braking, advanced brake assist for added stopping power, LaneSense® lane departure warning and lane keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlamps for improved visibility.
