Review: 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in multiple trim levels with four different engine options, one being diesel-powered. All engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base model is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine with a rear-wheel drivetrain that generates 295-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and earns an EPA-estimated 26 mpg highway and 19 mpg city. Available are a 5.7-liter V8 engine that produces 360-hp, a 475-hp 6.4-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8 diesel engine that kicks out 707-hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. The available SelecTerrain® Traction Management system includes Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock driving modes. The Grand Cherokee incorporates Stop/Start technology for greater fuel efficiency and has a towing capacity of 6,200 pounds.


Featured in the new Grand Cherokee are the Uconnect® 4 infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth® with voice recognition technology, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, two USB ports, Keyless Enter ‘n Go, and a six-speaker audio system. Available features include the upgraded Uconnect® 4C infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, navigation, SiriusXM® satellite radio, SiriusXM Guardian™ for unlocking and starting your car remotely, and a choice of a nine-speaker Alpine sound system or a 19-speaker Harman Kardon® premium audio system with 825-watts.


Standard safety technologies include blind spot monitoring with rear cross path detection, traction control, hill start assist, ParkSense® rear park assist system, ParkView® rear back up camera, and a 7-airbag system. The optional Advanced Active Safety Group includes adaptive cruise control with stop, full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, LaneSense® lane departure warning with lane keep assist, and parallel and perpendicular park assist.
