The standard engine is a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 with a rear-wheel drivetrain which produces 295-hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque while the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 generates 360-hp. Or you can opt for one of America’s most powerful three-row SUV engines, the Durango SRT’s 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 which kicks out 475-hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque and has a best-in-class towing capacity of 8,700 pounds. The base engine has an estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg highway and 19 mpg city.

3019 Ford Explorer

The 2019 Ford Explorer comes in five models and three powertrains all paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The base model is equipped with a 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 engine with a front-wheel drivetrain which makes 290-hp and 255 lb.-ft. of torque whereas the 2.3-liter EcoBoost® inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine produces 280-hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. The Sport and Platinum trims are powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 twin turbocharged engine which churns out 365-hp and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2019 Explorer can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. The standard engine has an estimated EPA-rating of 24 mpg highway and 17 mpg city.
