The 2019 Ram 1500 is powered by a 305 horsepower 3.6-liter V6 or a 395 horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V8, both engines work with an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-new for 2019 is the adaptation of a hybrid engine by using Fiat’s Chrysler Automobiles eTorque system which replaces the alternator with a generator unit that feeds energy to a 48-volt lithium-ion battery pack. This technology comes standard on Ram 1500 V6 models and is optional on 1500 models with a V8. This technology should provide smoother and quicker starts then past systems. eTorque can provide a brief boost of torque of 90 lb-ft to V6 models and 130 lb-ft to V8 models.

Aerodynamic additions aim to improve fuel economy in the 2019 Ram 1500 these upgrades include active grille shutters and a front splitter that automatically lowers by 2.5 inches when traveling at speeds greater than 35 mph. The newly designed hood is designed to push air over and away from the windshield wipers to vastly improve airflow and fuel economy.

What will really blow away consumers is the newly redesigned interior of the 2019 Ram 1500 which is available with a 12” touchscreen Uconnect 4 infotainment system on the Laramie, Longhorn and Limited trim levels. The infotainment system includes a navigation system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and can display information in full or split screen formats. On the Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn and Rebel models an 8.4” touchscreen interface comes standard and navigation is available.

Along with an upgraded infotainment system comes a more spacious cab with more legroom for rear passengers. A tilting and telescoping steering wheel, a rotary shift knob, and as many as five USB ports are available with luxury features such as hand-stitched leather and real wood trim available in higher Ram 1500 models.

The newest Ram 1500 puts an emphasis on safety features. Blind spot monitoring, a 360-degree camera, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam headlights are available on all 1500 models.
