The 2018 RAM 4500 has three trims: Laramie, SLT, and Tradesman. The base engine is a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that produces 366 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Drivers also have the option for a 6.7-liter inline-6 Cummins Turbo Diesel engine that makes 320 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

Standard transmission is an AISIN heavy-duty 6-speed automatic, but you can opt for a 6-speed manual transmission.  All models have heavy-duty engine cooling, shock absorbers, Speed Control, and a front stabilizer bar.

When you choose the base powertrain, you’ll have a maximum payload capacity of 9,660 pounds and a towing capacity of 19,010 pounds. The turbodiesel option has a maximum payload limit of 8,920 pounds and a towing capacity of 20,270 pounds.

Available safety and driver assistive technology includes ParkSense Front and Rear Park Assist, ParkView Rear Pack-Up Camera, a Trailer Brake Controller, and Remote Start System.

Comfort and Entertainment

Standard interior features include air conditioning, front row assist handles, 3.5-inch instrument cluster, vinyl floor covering, day/night mirrors, and vinyl seating with a 40/20/40 split-bench front seat with arm rest. SLT models add the option for dual-zone automatic climate control, power door locks, carpeted floor, cloth-trimmed seating, and available feature packages.

Available interior features include a center stack with woodgrain insert, 7-inch information display, an overhead console with Universal Garage Door Opener, auto-dimming interior mirrors, premium cloth or leather-trimmed seating, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row outboard seats, and power front seats with memory.

Standard infotainment includes Uconnect 3.0 with a 5-inch display, USB port, and auxiliary jack. Options include Sirius XM Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six-speaker audio, Sirius XM Traffic and Travel, and the choice between three upgraded Uconnect systems: Uconnect 5 , Uconnect 4C with 8.4-inch Display Radio, and Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4-inch Display Radio. All Uconnect systems include Bluetooth, voice command, and a Media Hub.
