Performance

The 2018 Jeep Compass has four different trims, all of which are available in four-wheel drive. The Compass comes with a 2.4-liter inline-4-engine which creates 180 horsepower with 175 lb-ft of torque. The four trims are the Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. All besides the Trailhawk come standard with front-wheel drive. While the base models come with a 6-speed manual transmission, the FWD can be upgraded to a 6-speed Aisin transmission while the four-wheel drive models come with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

As previously mentioned, winter in New England can be very strenuous.  Drivers are switching from tough blizzard conditions with black ice to wet and muddy back country roads. Having the right vehicle with the right features is important. Lucky for everyone, the 2018 Jeep Compass four-wheel drive models have the Selec-Terrain management system. This allows the Compass to better adapt to the road condition, whether it be snow, rain, sand, or mud.  For more adventurous off-road types, the Trailhawk models come with the option of a rock Select-Terrain option. The Trailhawk has been pushed to its limits on various tests including traction, ground clearance, articulation, water fording, and maneuverability and came out on the other side earning Jeeps 4x4 Trail Rated Badge.

Efficiency

Even with all the 2018 Jeep Compass has to offer, most people will want to have a vehicle that not only performs well but does so efficiently. The Compass delivers on this front as well. The front-wheel-drive models get 23 MPG city and 32 MPG highway. The AWD gets 22 MPG City and 31 MPG highway. The 2018 Compass combines performance and efficiency into one ready-made package to help any driver thrive during the long winter months!
