Review: 2019 Jeep Compass

The athletically-styled Jeep Compass is a compact 5-seater SUV and is one of the most affordable SUV’s in its class. The Compass follows the Jeep brand tradition of having legendary traction and maneuverability and is ready for you to test drive at McGovern Jeep in Newton.


The Sport, Latitude, Altitude. Limited, and Trailhawk grades make-up the new 2019 Jeep Compass. The standard engine is comprised of a 2.4-liter i4 MultiAir® engine with a 6-speed manual transmission which produces 180-hp and 175 ft.-lbs. of torque. Two automatic transmissions – a six-speed and a nine-speed, are available. The Compass offers good fuel economy with an estimated EPA rating of 31 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. Options include Jeep® Active Drive which adjusts the torque to ensure the tire with the most grip gets the most power.


The 2019 Jeep Compass comes standard with the Uconnect® 3 system with 5-inch intuitive touch-screen to give you control of your entertainment, communication, available navigation and convenience features. The rear seats fold flat with a 60/40 split option to give up to 59.8 cu. ft. of cargo capacity. Available is a BeatsAudio™ premium sound system with 9 speakers and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto integration. Heated front seats and steering wheel, 8-way power adjustable driver seat with 4-way power lumbar, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof are options designed to add comfort to your adventures.


Equipped with over 70 standard and available safety and security features, the 2019 Compass is designed with your safety in mind. All speed traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, ParkView® rear back up camera, and 7 airbags are just some of the standard safety features. Available options include blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection, full-speed forward collision warning, LaneSense® lane departure warning, and ParkSense® rear park assist.
